The Nets (3-9) lost to the Minnesota Timberwolves (8-6) tonight by a score of 111-81.
The Least You Should Know:
Andray Blatche led the Nets in scoring with 16 points in 22 minutes, and Joe Johnson (15 points) shot 60% from the field (6-for-10).
The Nets were down by 20 at the half, and were once again outscored in the third quarter, this time by 11 points.
Brooklyn shot just 39.7% from the floor and 70% from the line.
Four of the Nets five starters had +/- ratings of at least -24.
Brian ErniAwful. Just absolutely awful. I’m actively angry. Zero effort, zero pride. There’s really no solace to be had in this loss. Everyone was bad, no one showed any heart. It looked like a team that quit, and that’s just flat out inexcusable.
Mull this one over: for all the anticipation for this team and their stars, Tyshawn Taylor and Toko Shengelia got 24 and 22 points respectively. In the 12th game of the season. Coming off three straight losses. If that doesn’t speak volumes about the condition this club is in right now, I don’t know what does.
Truthfully, I’m just out of things to say. I’m disgusted and completely discouraged. Minnesota was a better team in every single facet of the game tonight. If this is what is going to pass for Nets basketball this season, we’re in for a very long winter.
The Nets return home to host the Detroit Pistons Sunday afternoon. Tip is set for 2:00 PM.
