After coming off of a fairly poor showing against the Boston Celtics on Christmas Day, the Nets are looking to rebound at the Milwaukee Bucks tonight. The action tips off at 8:00 P.M. on the YES Network. Here’s your pregame primer.
Sweet Revenge For Nets?
The last time these two teams squared off on Dec. 9, it was the Bucks who came into Brooklyn and defeated the Nets, 97-88. Since then, the teams have gone in opposite directions. The Nets have gone 3-5 since then while the Bucks have gone 4-3. At this point in the season, both teams are probably disappointed with where they are in the standings. The Nets could use a few wins over just about anyone, but avenging a loss on their homecourt should provide some extra incentive.
Kris Humphries Inactive
Prior to the Christmas Day battle against the Boston Celtics, Avery Johnson announced that Kris Humphries had a mild abdominal strain and that he would miss Wednesday night’s game before being reevaluated before Friday night’s matchup against the Charlotte Bobcats. Humphries is listed as day-to-day, but didn’t make the trip to Milwaukee and will certainly be out tonight.
Bucks Bouncing Back
On their last time out on Dec. 22, the Bucks lost at home to the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Bucks allowed six Cavs players to score in double figures and lost despite a 37 point effort from Monta Ellis. Brandon Jennings had a pretty poor game, shooting just 3-for-13 from the field. In Jennings last time out against the Nets, though, he had his way with the Nets, getting into the paint and scoring almost at will. At the end of the night, he turned in an impressive line of 26 points, six rebounds, seven assists and five steals. The Bucks probably view tonight’s game against the Nets as a winnable game and Jennings probably sees it as an opportunity to bounce back.
The Nets have lost 12 straight games to the Bucks and Brook Lopez—who missed the last meeting between the teams—averages just 13.8 points per game against the Bucks and that’s his lower scoring output against any Eastern Conference team.
