The Nets got a much needed victory over the Charlotte Bobcats last night, but the biggest story coming out of the game, for us, was Joe Johnson’s performance.
We made it no secret that Johnson’s sore heel was something that should have had Nets fans concerned and in his first two games after returning from the injury, he didn’t do much to put the notion of his being limited to rest.
Johnson scored a combined 22 points in the his first two games against the Dallas Mavericks and at the Chicago Bulls, respectively. Not surprisingly, the team lost both games.
Last night, however, Johnson equaled that output and though it came against the likes of the lowly Charlotte Bobcats, his production is still worth mentioning as the Nets prepare for their season-long 8-game road trip, set to begin on March 17.
Johnson scored 22 points last night, while also grabbing five rebounda and dishing out three assists. He did turn the ball over six times, but we think any concerns about that should be swept under the rug since he shot 5-of-8 from behind the 3-point line.
The Nets are set to host the Washington Wizards at Barclay Center tomorrow night, and hopefully, Johnson can keep it up. The Nets not only need him on the floor during the stretch run, they’ll need him playing at a high level, as well.
